Lowry Named Western Conference Player Of The Week; Thabeet Assigned To D-League

During The Four Game Stretch, Lowry Connected On Nearly Half His Attempts From Range

PG Kyle Lowry has been honored Western Conference’s Player of the Week, averaging 19.3 points, 7.5 assists, and 7.3 rebounds during the Rockets 4-0 mark from March 14-March 20.  The former Villanova Wildcat has registered double-digits scoring affairs in a career-high 12 straight contests.  He capped off his impressive stretch last night against Utah with a triple-double in the Rockets 110-108 victory over the Jazz.  Lowry’s 28-11-10 stat line helped him become just the fourth Rocket to perform a triple-double since 2002-03.

In other news, center Hasheem Thabeet has been sent down to the NBA Developmental League.  Thabeet will likely receive 20 minutes a night to start with as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers try to get him acclimated with the club.  To make up for Hasheem’s roster spot and the injury to Chase Budinger (ankle sprain; considered minor, likely to miss a week), the Rockets signed a former player (contributing member during the 22-game win streak in ’08), forward Mike Harris, to a 10-day deal.  It appears as if coach Adelman is not comfortable with Terrence Williams logging any significant minutes.
